I’m taking a photo trip to northern Europe to tell how quality architecture is transforming cities.
The first project I visited was the residential building of Joseph Lluis Mateo, built in 1996, one of the first redevelopment projects for the Amsterdam docks.
The neighborhood unit that has been created in this neighborhood is exceptional.
The complex should be seen from the sequence of its elements, but from its interrelationship. should not appear hard, compact and massive, in the manner of a permanent protective dyke, but seeks, rather to open itself up and- speaking speaking- to melt away. ” Josep Lluís Mateo, 1996
